Baseball drops Gettysburg series

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus College baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Gettysburg on Sunday afternoon, in a series that was delayed from opening weekend due to weather.

In the first game, Ursinus scored in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead, but, saw the Bullets score 14 straight in a 14-1 win. In game two, the Bullets (16-9, 5-4 CC) scored early in a 23-6 win over the Bears (14-8, 4-5 Centennial). 

The opener saw the Bears get their lone run on a home run to centerfield by junior first baseman Christopher Jablonski. Gettysburg would take the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third, then add two more in the fourth and four in the fifth.

The Bears cranked out ten hits, with ten players getting one hit each.  Vince Piccioni took the loss, falling to 3-2. In four innings, he struck out two and walked three. 

Game two saw the Bullets strike for six runs in the bottom of the first, before Ursinus countered with four in the top of the second. However, Gettysburg scored two more in the bottom of the inning, then added two more in the third for a 10-4 lead.

For Ursinus, designated hitter Austin Feuerman and right fielder Austin Kurey had two hits each, with catcher Vincent Terry along with Kurey, centerfielder Jose Colon getting RBI hits. a 

Shortstop Devyn Kerr and second baseman CJ Diana also had RBI hits on the day for the Bears.

Starter Seth Regensburg fell to 1-2 with the loss, as he went just 2/3rds of an inning, allowing six runs.

Ursinus closes the F&M series on Monday in Lancaster, before heading to Haverford on Tuesday.
