Baseball sweeps past Gordon, now 5-1

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Ursinus College baseball team moved its Florida record to 5-1 win another sweep, this time handing Gordon a sweep on Wednesday afternoon.

In game one, the Bears scored four runs in the third inning for a 4-2 win, with Ursinus (5-1) taking an 8-1 win from the Fighting Scots (2-5) in game two.

The opener saw sophomore designated hitter Austin Feuerman (Columbia, Md./Atholton) be responsible for all four runs, as he smacked a three-run double, then later scored on a wild pitch. He finished 2-for-3 in the game. Junior first baseman Christopher Jablonski (Galloway, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) was 2-for-2 in the game as well.

Sophomore right hander Connor Moriarty (Mahwah, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) got the win, as he went 6.2 innings allowing just four hits. He struck out one and walked three. Sophomore right hander Billie Buckwalter (Media, Pa./Penncrest) got the final out to end the game.

In game two, Ursinus had a season-high 13 hits with five players getting multiple hits. Feuerman went 2-for-4 with a run scored, while sophomore centerfielder Jose Colon (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) going 2-for-4. Sophomore third baseman Jay Farrell (Newtown Square, Pa./Episcopal Academy), freshman left fielder Travis Kozak (Farmington, Conn./Avon Old Farms) and sophomore second baseman CJ Diana (Chester, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) all had two hits.

Freshman right hander Pierce Greenleaf (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) got his first collegiate win, as he went five innings and allowed just two hits. He walked just one.
