Baseball sweeps SUNY-IT to move to 3-1 on season

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Ursinus College baseball team ran its record to 3-1 with a sweep of SUNY Polytechnic on Monday afternoon in sunny Florida.

In game one, Ursinus scored the game-winning run with two outs in the seventh in a 2-1 win, while the Bears (3-1) scored four runs over the last two innings to break open a 6-1 win over the Wildcats (0-2).

In the opener, sophomore outfielder Timo Muro (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) scored on an error with two outs in the seventh to get the win. The Bears banged out seven hits, with sophomore second baseman CJ Diana (Chester, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) going 2-for-3. Sophomore designated hitter Austin Feuerman (Columbia, Md./Atholton) had a triple for the Bears.

Junior right hander Sean Pisik (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) went the distance to get the win, scattering seven hits and striking out six while not walking a batter.

In game two, Feuerman had two hits, while sophomore outfielder Austin Kurey (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) had two RBI.

Senior right hander Alex Manacher (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) got the win as he went 5.2 innings, allowing just one earned run and scattering eight hits. He struck out two.

Sophomore right hander Billie Buckwalter (Media, Pa./Penncrest) went 1.1 innings striking out two in relief.
