HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford starting pitcher Tommy Bergjans threw an eight-inning, four hitter while striking out ten as the Fords (14-13, 7-4 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (13-13, 5-7 Centennial) 7-1 on Friday at Kannerstein Field.
Bergjans improved to 6-1, as he scattered the four hits on the day.
Ursinus got its lone run in the fourth to the score at 1-all when junior right fielder James Hoff hit a double to left field that scored senior centerfielder Josh Schnell.
Haverford took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning when first baseman Justin Coulter hit a two-run homerun to left off of starter Ryan Regensburg. Regensburg, who fell to 3-4, struck out four and walked five in 5.1 innings of work.
Sophomore first baseman Chris Jablonski, Schnell, Hoff and freshman left fielder Austin Kurey each had a hit in the loss.
Ursinus hosts Johns Hopkins on Saturday.
