COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus College sophomore right hander Vince Piccioni scattered four hits over eight innings of work, while the Bears (5-5) got eight hits in a 3-0 win over Richard Stockton (7-4) on Friday afternoon at Thomas Field.

The Bears won their home opener, in game originally scheduled for South Jersey, for the first time since the 2011 season.

Piccioni held the Ospreys hitless through the first three innings, while striking out three and walking only two during his third win of the year. In the sixth and seventh, Richard Stockton got two runners to third but Piccioni induced two ground outs in the sixth and got a fly out to end the threat in the seventh.

In the ninth, senior left hander Chris Ryder got his second save of the season, and eighth of his carerby pitching a scoreless ninth.

For Ursinus, the Bears got on the board in the third on RBIs from senior second baseman Ralph Aurora and senior centerfielder Josh Schnell. Schnell brought home the first run, a bunt single down the right field line that scored sophomore shortstop Devyn Kerr, while freshman third baseman CJ Diana scored on a sacrifice fly that by Aurora.

The third run came off the bat of freshman catcher Alex Campbell, a sacrifice fly that scored junior right fielder James Hoff.

Ursinus got two hits each from Diana and freshman designated hitter Austin Feuerman.

For Stockton, the Ospreys got five hits on the day with junior shortstop Mark Janowski hitting a double in the ninth. On the mound, senior right hander Brandon Trainor struck out three and walked one in five innings for work to fall to 1-2. Senior right hander Jim Schramm pitched three innings in relief, allowing just two hits.
