Baseball shut down by Lebanon Valley, 5-2

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Playing its first game since Spring Break, the Ursinus College baseball team took an early 2-0 lead, before falling 5-2 to Lebanon Valley on Thursday afternoon.

Ursinus (4-5) took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first as senior second baseman Ralph Aurora had a two-run double to center field scoring senior centerfielder Josh Schnell and sophomore first baseman Chris Jablonski. The three hits in the inning for Ursinus would turn out to be their only hits of the game as Flying Dutchmen pitcher Austin Hornberger struck out seven over the next seven innings.

Lebanon Valley tied the score in the second, and took the lead for good in the fifth while adding insurance runs in the seventh and eighth.

Junior right handed pitcher Alex Manacher kept the Bears in the game, as he struck out two and walked one in 6.2 innings of work.

Ursinus did threaten in the sixth, as Aurora got hit by pitch, then stole second. After advancing to third on an error, he was not able to get the tying run across the plate.

Aurora finished 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Ursinus will host Richard Stockton on Friday, then travel to PSU-Berks for two games on Saturday.
