HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford scored nine runs in the bottom of the third inning as the Fords (21-6, 6-5 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (6-20, 2-9 Centennial) 14-1 on Tuesday in the start of a two-game series with the Fords.
Despite the loss, Ursinus banged out 11 hits on the day, with freshman first baseman Chris Jablonski (Galloway, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) going 3-for-4 with a double, while junior second baseman Ralph Aurora (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor Plainsboro), sophomore shortstop Alex Manacher (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) and senior third baseman Jake Kohler (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) each getting two hits.
Kohler scored the lone run for the Bears in the fourth on a fielding error.
Senior left hander A.J. Wright (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) took the loss, falling to 0-6. He struck out two and walked two in two innings of work.
Ursinus travels to DeSales on Wednesday, followed by the series finale with the Fords on Friday at The T.
