LANCASTER, Pa. – Homestanding Franklin & Marshall scored five runs in the first inning as the Diplomats (15-14, 6-4 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (6-19, 2-8 Centennial) 10-1 Sunday afternoon in a Centenial Conference matchup.
Ursinus was held to just two hits, as senior catcher Kevin Wilson (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) hit a double in the ninth inning, and later scored on a RBI groundout by senior shortstop Jake Kohler (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin). Wilson and junior pinch hitter Jake Neiman (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) had the lone hits for the Bears.
Sophomore right hander Alex Manacher (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) took the loss, falling to 2-2. He lasted just 1/3 of an inning, allowing three earned runs.
Ursinus travels to Haverford on Tuesday, then to DeSales on Wednesday
