Muhlenberg rallies to beat baseball, 14-11

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Ursinus poured out 17 hits against Muhlenberg but the Mules (13-8, 2-1 Centennial) scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh in a 14-11 win over the Bears (4-13, 0-3 Centennial) Tuesday night in Centennial Conference baseball action.

The Bears had rallied from 8-1 deficit by scoring six in the fourth, two in the fifth and two more in the seventh to take an 11-9 lead.

Senior catcher Kevin Wilson (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) went 4-for-5 on the day with two runs scored and three RBI. Sophomore left fielder James Hoff (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) also got three RBI, while freshman first baseman Chris Jablonski (Galloway, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) was 2-for-4 with two BI.

Hoff, Wilson, junior second baseman Ralph Aurora (Plainsboro, N.J. / W. Windsor-Plainsboro), sophomore left fielder Chris Menzies (Manassas, Va. / Osbourn Park) and senior center fielder Ryan Furlong (Douglaston, N.Y./Xavier) all scored two runs. Menzies finished 3-for-5 on the day.

The six-run fourth inning was highlighted by two-run doubles from Hoff and Wilson.

In the fifth, Wilson singled to left while Jablonski singled through the right side for run scoring hits.

Senior pitcher Chris Ryder (Douglassville, Pa./Holy Name) took the loss in relief as he gave up four earned runs in 2/3 innings of work.

Ursinus will finish the series with Muhlenberg on Friday at Thomas Field.
