Baseball snaps skid with 10-8 win over TCNJ

EWING, N.J. – Ursinus senior catcher Kevin Wilson (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) went 5-for-6 with three doubles, two RBI and two runs scored, while freshman first baseman Chris Jablonski (Galloway, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) had three RBI as the Bears (4-10) snapped a five-game losing streak with a 10-8 win over The College of New Jersey (6-9) on Thursday night.

Ursinus built a 4-0 lead after 3 ½ innings, then scored two more in the sixth to retake the lead. The Bears also added three in the ninth, and then held off the Lions who scored two in the bottom of the frame.

Ursinus scored two in the third on a RBI single from Jablonski and a RBI groundout from sophomore  right fielder James Hoff (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford). In the fourth, Wilson hit a two-run single to left center scoring freshman left fielder Daniel Brogan (Havertown, Pa./Haverford Township) and junior center fielder Josh Schnell (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown).

In the fifth, Jake Neiman scored on a RBI bunt by senior shortstop Jake Kohler (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin). Jablonski added a two-run double in the sixth that scored Brogan and Wilson.

In the ninth, sophomore third baseman Alex Manacher (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) and junior second baseman Ralph Aurora (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro) had RBI hits, with Aurora hitting a two-run single.

Freshman right handed pitcher William DiCiurcio (Mount Laurel, N.J./Bishop Eustace) got the win as he pitched two scoreless innings, striking out two and walking one. Manacher came in and pitched the final two innings to earn the save. Senior right hander Ryan Furlong (Douglaston, N.Y./Xavier) got the start, throwing 3.1 innings and allowed just two earned runs.

Ursinus is at Gettysburg on Saturday.
