Baseball drops two in South Carolina

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Ursinus College baseball team dropped a pair of games during their trip to the Ripken Experience on Thursday afternoon.

In game one, the Bears were blanked by Catholic, 4-0, before the Bears (2-4) fell to Mount Aloysius, 11-4.

In the opener, the Bears were held to just three hits. Junior Ralph Aurora (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro) had a double, while freshman shortstop Devyn Kerr (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and senior catcher Kevin Wilson (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) had singles.

Senior A.J. Wright (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South)  took the loss, but, pitched well over seven innings. He struck out six and walked three while allowing two earned runs.

In game two, Ursinus fell behind 7-0 after four inning but scored two runs in the fifth and ninth innings.

Junior outfielder Josh Schnell (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, while freshman first baseman Chris Jabonski (Galloway, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) had two RBI.

Junior Steve Berardi (Hartsville, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) took the loss, as he struck out two and walked four in 2.1 innings of work.

Ursinus will take on Grove City Friday in its final two games in South Carolina.
