COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus got all the offense it needed in the first inning on Wednesday afternoon against Albright as the Bears (17-18) put up six runs in the bottom of the frame in a 6-2 win over the Lions (12-24) in non-conference baseball action.

The Bears got two hits each from senior shortstop Brandon Sullivan (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) and junior designated hitter Kevin Wilson (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick), while sophomore left fielder Josh Schnell (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) had two RBI and a run scored. Sullivan stroked a triple for the Bears.

The six runs were more than enough for the pitching staff, as Ursinus utilized five pitchers on the day. Junior A.J. Wright (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) went three innings, giving up two hits and walking two.

Junior Ryan Furlong (Douglaston, N.Y./Xavier) pitched two innings of perfect baseball for the Bears in the win.

Ursinus will host Gettysburg on Saturday in a Centennial Conference doubleheader. Between games, Ursinus will formally name the field Thomas Field in honor of retiring head coach Brian Thomas. Thomas, who also served as Athletic Director at Ursinus, is retiring after 23 years at the helm of the Bears.
