READING, Pa. – The Ursinus College baseball pitching staff held PSU-Berks to just three hits as the Bears (16-18) blanked the Defenders (13-21) 6-0 on Tuesday.
Senior pitcher Nate Schnell (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown), senior Steve Christakos (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson), junior Jake Kohler (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin), freshman Alex Manacher (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) and sophomore Chris Ryder (Douglassville,Pa./Holy Name) combined on the shutout. All pitchers, save for Ryder, went two innings.
Senior right fielder Garrett Smith (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesse) went 3-for-3 with four runs scored, while junior catcher Kevin Wilson (Brunswick, Maine./Brunswick), and senior center fielder Ben Gresh (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) each had two RBI in the win.
Ursinus completes the Reading double dip, hosting Albright on Wednesday afternoon.
