The "Wright" Stuff

MEDIA, Pa. – Ursinus College junior left hander A.J. Wright (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) handcuffed Penn State-Brandywine on Thursday, as Wright pitched a complete game three-hitter as the Bears (14-18) defeated Brandywine (12-18) 7-0 on Thursday.

Wright struck out six and walked three in improving to 2-3.

He had plenty of offense, as the Bears pounded out 12 hits and scored four runs in the top of the first.

Senior center fielder Ben Gresh (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI, including a home run in the fifth inning. Freshman third baseman Vince Rondolone (Havertown, Pa./Haverford School) went 2-for-3 with a run scored.  

Junior designated hitter Kevin Wilson (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) had a run scored and double that scored Aurora in the top of the first. Gresh and senior first baseman Rich Guthridge (Schwenksville, Pa./Spring-Ford) had a RBI single in the inning.

In the eighth, Rondolone singled home Gresh, who led off the inning with a double.

In the ninth, sophomore left fielder Josh Schnell (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) had a sacrifice fly that scored senior second baseman Lou Argentine (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley).

Ursinus will host Swarthmore on Friday.
