Baseball swept by Johns Hopkins

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Ursinus was swept on both ends of a doubleheader with defending Centennial Conference champion Johns Hopkins on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Jays (19-9-2, 10-2 Centennial) held Ursinus scoreless in game one by a 2-0 count, before taking the second game 6-1.

Ursinus (13-16, 5-7 CC)  was held to six hits in game one, with two each coming off the bats of junior catcher Kevin Wilson (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) and freshman designated hitter Vince Rondolone (Havertown, Pa./Haverford School)

Senior pitcher Nate Schnell (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) took the loss, but, pitched well as he allowed just seven hits and one earned run while striking out five.

In game two, Ursinus scored one in the sixth as senior right fielder Garrett Smith (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesse) scored on a RBI double by Wilson.

Senior left hander Steve Christakos (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) took the loss, as he allowed four runs in three innings of work.

Ursinus begins a two-game series with Swarthmore on Tuesday on the road.
