Baseball drops slugfest to Albright, 12-11

READING, Pa. – The Ursinus College baseball team finished up the regular season slate on Wednesday afternoon, dropping a 12-11 shootout with Albright College at Kelchner Field. The Bears had led 11-6, before Albright scored four in the eighth and two in the ninth to take the win.

For Ursinus, junior center fielder Ben Gresh (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, three RBI, a home run and a triple. His three-run home run in the sixth gave Ursinus an 8-4 lead. Freshman shortstop Jake Skolnick (Newtown, Pa./George School) was 2-for-4, with junior second baseman Garrett Smith (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesse) scoring two runs.

On the mound, sophomore Jake Kohler (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) took the loss, falling to 0-2. He gave up four earned runs in two innings or work, striking out three and walking two.

Ursinus will travel to Johns Hopkins at 3 p.m. on Friday for the Centennial Conference opening round game against the Blue Jays.
