Baseball falls to Haverford, 10-1

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford pounded out 15 hits on the afternoon as the Fords (9-5, 2-0 Centennial) swept the season series from Ursinus (8-7, 0-2 Centennial) with a 10-1 win at Class of ’16 Field Friday afternoon in baseball action.

The Fords scored twice in the first, third, fourth, fifth and seventh innings in the win.

For Ursinus, sophomore center fielder Ben Gresh (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) finished 2-for-3, while senior left fielder Tommy Clarke (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon) was 1-for-4 and scored the lone run on a passed in the top of the fourth.

Senior right handed pitcher Corey Weaver (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) took the loss as he went five innings. He struck out two and walked six, as he fell to 1-2 on the year. Freshman right handed pitcher Jake Kohler (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) threw three innings in relief, striking out one.

Ursinus will host nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
