Kim Smith joined her alma mater as an assistant coach prior to the 2017-18 campaign. A highly accomplished coach at nearby Springfield High School, Smith brings three decades worth of coaching and administrative experience with her to Collegeville.

Smith was the head girls basketball coach at Springfield from 1994 to 2014, winning over 300 games. During her tenure, the Cougars captured five Central League championships, qualified for the PIAA Championship four times, and made three appearances in the District 1 semifinals. Smith, who also spent ten years as assistant athletic director and has taught physical education in the Springfield School District since 1991, also served eight years as an assistant coach with the varsity softball team.

Smith acted as athletic director and coach of the girls basketball, softball, and field hockey teams in addition to teaching physical education at Ancillae-Asumpta Academy in Wyncote from 1986 to 1991. 

After graduating from Ursinus in 1986, Smith earned master's degrees from Carlow College and Saint Joseph's University. She is married to Ursinus men's and women's tennis coach Pete Smith.
