Brian Rafferty returned to his alma mater as an assistant prior to the 2019-20 campaign.
A 2018 Ursinus graduate, Rafferty was a four-year starter for the Bears. He was an integral part of the team's recent return to Centennial Conference prominence, helping Ursinus to win playoff contests in each of his final two seasons.
"I am absolutely thrilled to have Brian back with us," Small said. "Our team is incredibly fortunate to add a coach and talented young educator of Raff's caliber. Raff brings a great knowledge of the game, and his attention to detail and commitment to working hard is a characteristic few can match. He has always stood for the best of Ursinus basketball: be passionate about the game and our basketball family; inspire the best in others; and carry yourself with dignity and class at all times."
Rafferty, who led all Centennial players in assists in each of his four years, is third on Ursinus' all-time leaderboard with 457 total assists, a mark which places him sixth in conference history. He finished his career with 597 points and 381 rebounds.
Rafferty was a team captain as both a junior and a senior and earned both the program's Sportsmanship Award and Ursinus' department Student-Athlete Advisory Sportsmanship Award as a senior.
"I am so excited to be back at Ursinus," Rafferty said. "It's an honor to be back working with a program and a community which has meant so much to me."
