Carl Blickle enters his ninth year as the head coach of the Ursinus men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs.

Under Blickle’s guidance the track & field/cross country programs have broken 58 school records, won 55 individual Centennial Conference titles, placed 179 athletes on the all-conference team, qualified 8 athletes for the NCAA Championship, and produced 20 US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Teams. Blickle has been named Centennial Conference Coach of the Year three times.

In 2022, the men’s Track & Field program won the Outdoor Centennial Conference Championship and finished runner up at the Indoor Championship. Program records were set in All Region selections (25), All Conference selections (43), and school records (14). Individually, the bears swept all major awards for the outdoor season; taking home Outstanding Track Performer (Tyler Reilly), Outstanding Field Performer (Nick Galbraith), Outstanding Rookie (Brody Myers), and Coach of the Year (Carl Blickle). Blickle was also named Coach of the Year for the indoor season. The Bears concluded their historic year at the NCAA Championship with the school and conference record breaking 4x4 (3:13.62).

Individually, Griffin McMann was named Outstanding Field Performer at the 2021 Outdoor Centennial Championships. Evan Giannetti punched his ticket to the 2021 NCAA Championship with a throw of 194-4 in the Javelin. James McDaid and Marcos Maciel were recognized on the All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA for the 2019 cross country season. Previously James earned Academic All-Centennial status for the 2018 cross country season. In 2016, Drew Mackin qualified for the 2016 outdoor NCAA Championship in the 800m (1:50.69).

In 2022, the women’s T&F program finished fourth at the Outdoor Conference Championship, set 8 school records, placed 7 on the All-Centennial Team, and received 13 All Region selections. Individually, Rachel Conhoff qualified for the NCAA Championship in both XC and Indoor. Rachel finished 9th in the mile at the Indoor NCAA Championship in a school record time of 5:00.43. Izzy Deal built upon her successful 2021 season by finishing 6th at the Outdoor NCAA Championship, earning her second All American recognition in the javelin.

In 2021, UC finished third at the Outdoor Conference Championship; 8 women were named to the All-Centennial Team. Both the XC and T&F teams received All-Academic Team recognition from the USTFCCCA. Izzy Deal concluded a banner year by placing 8th in the Javelin at the Outdoor NCAA Championship. Deal was recognized as both All American and All-Region for her efforts.

Individually, Rachel Conhoff was recognized on the All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA for the 2019 cross country season. Catherine Buczek won the 2018 400-meter hurdles conference title (1:02.97) and was twice honored as an All-Mid East Region performer. Multiple time all-conference selection Krista Snyder '16 qualified for the 2016 NCAA Championship in the heptathlon. Emily Lamb '15 achieved both the 800m (2:15) and 1500m (4:38) records under Blickle’s watch.

Prior to Ursinus, Blickle spent four years at Roanoke College as an assistant coach and health/human performance professor. In his four years with Roanoke, Blickle was awarded the women’s South/Southeast Regional Assistant Coach of the Year three times by USTFCCCA. He led the Maroons to five Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women’s track and field team championships, including three straight outdoor titles from 2012 to 2014. Individually, his athletes achieved four NCAA All-American accolades, three ODAC Athletes of the Year awards, 21 NCAA National Qualifiers, and 31 ODAC individual champions.

Prior to arriving at Roanoke, Blickle spent two season at his alma mater, Salisbury University, where the Sea Gulls finished 2nd at the 2010 NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships and were named the Scholar Team of the Year by USTFCCCA.

A 2008 graduate of Salisbury, Blickle was a five-time individual all-conference team member in track & field and cross country, helping the Sea Gulls capture six Capital Athletic Conference crowns. Blickle holds a master’s degree in Applied Health Physiology, has both a USA Track & Field Level 1 and Level 2 certification along with two specialist certifications from the USTFCCCA.

Outside of his duties at Ursinus College, Blickle has severed on several committees including the Executive Board of the USTFCCCA (2018-2019), Centennial Conference XC Chair (2019-present), Centennial Conference T&F Chair (2017-2019), and the Leadership Team for the New Balance Garden State Track Club (2015-present). Blickle has successfully guided post-collegiate athletes to national and world ranked times, including 2016 Olympic Trials qualifier Carmen Graves to a 4:31 Mile and 9:47 3k Steeplechase.
