Volleyball Garners USMC/AVCA Academic Award

Academic Teams

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Ursinus College volleyball team earned a Team Academic Award from the United States Marine Corps (USMC)/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for the fifth consecutive season.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average. The AVCA Team Academic Award is the single largest award offered by quantity of schools, players and coaches honored.

"Academic achievement does not happen by accident," said AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer. "I'm so proud of the hundreds of coaching staffs that make excellence in the classroom a priority."

The volleyball team turned in a spectacular spring semester in the classroom, achieving a 3.6 cumulative GPA.

The Bears had seven players named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor roll last fall in rising junior Megan Aube, recent graduate Kaitlyn McGinley (Sr.), rising junior Gabby McGinn, rising junior Haley Spotts, rising sophomore Madison Vinovrski, rising senior Luca Walborn, and rising junior Claire Worley.
