BALTIMORE, Md. – Ursinus battled Johns Hopkins, taking the third set 25-19, before dropping a 3-1 decision to the Blue Jays (8-7, 4-1 Centennial) on Saturday in volleyball action.
Blue Jays won their sets by scores of 26-24, 25-18 and 25-22.
Ursinus (7-10, 0-6 Centennial) netted 35 kills on the afternoon, paced by 16 from sophomore Karla Thiele (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins Senior) and eight from junior setter Gina Powers (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven).
Powers finished the day with 23 assists, which was a match-high.
Defensively, junior libero Leah Masiello (New Castle, Del./St. Elizabeth's) and junior defensive specialist Joy Oakman (Huntingdon, Pa.) each had 13 digs with Thiele hitting for 12.
Senior middle blocker Mara Berzins (Perkasie, Pa./Penn Ridge) had a solo block and assisted on two others.
