Ferguson Leads Women's Track & Field on Day One at Widener

CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Track & Field team got its weekend started at the two-day Widener Invitational on Friday afternoon.

 

 

There were four events held on the Friday portion of the meet which included the shot put, discus throw, 1,000 meters, and 5,000 meters.

 

 

On the track, senior Lauren Ferguson earned a first-place finish in the 10,000-meters after posting a time of 40:01.19. first-year Ryann Wauthier placed ninth in the 5,000 meters with a personal-best time of 18:37.94 and sophomore Samantha Grubb posted a time of 19:11.86 to finish 14th overall.

 

 

First-year Mikki Pomatto earned a third-place finish in the discus throw after tallying a mark of 127-6 ft. and led seven Bears in the event. First-year Katya Galkowski placed 11th with a throw of 109-1 ft. and sophomore Jacqueline Allen finished just behind in 12th on her mark of 108-5 ft. Junior Catie Owens recorded a 17th place finish on her throw of 100-6 ft.

 

 

Allen registered a fourth-place finish in the shot put with her throw of 39-9 ft. and junior Isabelle Deal placed right behind in fifth with a mark of 39-8 ft. Junior Hannah Bierling posted a throw of 33-3 ft. and finished in 17th overall.
