Women's Track and Field competes at Valentine Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. -  Braving snow drifts as high as five feet in some places, the Ursinus College women's track and field team competed in the two-day Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University this weekend. There was no team score.

Marking the final event for the Bears before the indoor championship in two weeks, the Bears turned in some outstanding performances.

"I am very proud of how our women competed this weekend. Out of 12 total races, we had nine personal bests and finished within arms reach of several school records," said head coach Carl Blickle afterwards.

Starting with the 400, Kristen Prijs set a personal best in the 400 with a time of 602, while Catherine Buczek rank a personal best 61.7. Krista Snyder also ran a personal best in the event with a 63.7, with all three running faster than the conference standard. Prijs was less than a half second off of the school record.

Lily Talerman had a 2:32 in the 800, which was a personal best. Blickle noted that she has dropped ten seconds off her 800 time from the start of the season.

In the mile, Emily Lamb ran a personal best of 5:12, more than 19 seconds off her first time this season. Emilia Perry ran a 5:37 in the event, while Chelsea Nemeth ran a 5:48. Perry's time qualified her for the championship.

In the 4x4 relay, Lamb, Buczek, Snyder and Prijs ran their fastest time of the year at 4:09, beating their previous mark by 15 seconds. They were also three seconds off the school record.

In the DMR, Lamb, Buczek, Prijs and Perry ran an impressive time of 12:50, which was less than 10 seconds off the school record. Prijs split in the DMR was a 2:23 in the 800, which was also her third race of the day.
