Women's Swimming first after day one of CC Championships

LANCASTER, Pa. – On the first day of the 2014 Centennial Conference Championships, the Ursinus College women's swimming team stands first with 188.5 points, leading Gettysburg by 1.5 points.

The Bears started the night by finishing third in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:37.94 comprised of the team of sophomore Micaela Lyons, junior Chelsea Kozior, freshman Alli Hemp and sophomore Corinne Capodanno.

In the B final, the team of junior Amanda Lucock, junior Rebecca Schroll, freshman Katie Pielmeier and freshman Marisa Ferrari were tenth at 1:41.40.

In the 500 free, Kozior was sixth with a time of 5:09.09, while Bryn O'Neill was eighth at 5:11.14. In the B final, sophomore Kyleigh Hamilton was 11th at 5:14.46 with senior Molly Serfass 16th at 5:17.21.

In the 200 IM, Pielmeier was third at 2:11.30.

In the 50 free, Hemp was second at 24.42, while Lyons was tied for fifth at 24.52 and Capodanno in eighth at 24.56.

In the 400 medley relay, senior Malena Lair Ferrari, Pielmeier, Hemp and Capodanno finished first, setting a new championship and Centennial record with a time of 3:55.73.

In the B final, the team of Lyons, senior Eva Russell, Schroll and Kozior finished tenth at 4:07.97.
