Women's Soccer Succumbs to Strong Dickinson Squad

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Despite a spirited second-half effort, the Ursinus College women's soccer team dug itself too big an early hole and dropped a 4-1 Centennial Conference decision to No. 21 Dickinson on Saturday.

Skylar Knapp netted her first goal of the season in the 83rd minute for the Bears (1-5-1, 0-3), who owned an 8-4 advantage in shots in the second half.

The Red Devils (7-0, 2-0) proved too much in the early stages, netting four times in the first 20 minutes and change. Meg Tate scored three of the goals, including the opener just 3:50 into the contest.

Macey Mento added a second in the 13th minute before Tate struck again in the 16th and 20th minutes to cap the visitors' offense.

Sydney Mandel was excellent in the second half in her collegiate debut for the Bears. She entered for the start of the second half and proceeded to save all four shots she faced, including a rebound in close after an initial stop.

Raya Mount and Ciara Rago each tested the Dickinson keeper with hard left-shooted shots early in the second half.

The Bears return to action at King's (Pa.) on Wednesday.
