Saturday Special

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's soccer team traveled to Lancaster on Saturday, defeating Franklin & Marshall 2-0 in Centennial Conference play. The Bears have lost only one of their last fourteen matches versus the Diplomats.

Ursinus (3-4-1, 1-1) has won its last seven matches in Lancaster and five in a row overall against Franklin & Marshall (3-5, 0-2).

The Bears struck first in the 20th minute when junior Phoebe Shoap finished a corner from senior Kelly Rosen with a header past the F&M keeper for her third score in three matches.

Junior Kendall Couch notched her second score of the season to pad the Bears' lead in the 64th minute. The Ursinus defense remained strong and shut out the Diplomats the rest of the way.

Shoap is now tied with senior Erin Farrell for the team lead with four scores. Shoap also scored in last year's 3-0 win over the Diplomats.

Senior Courtney Sullivan made three saves in the match. The keeper now needs just six saves to move into 4th all-time in program history.

The Bears will look to keep things rolling on Saturday, October 1, in a conference showdown at McDaniel. Match time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
