Wrestling Finishes Third at Conferences, Nagle Earns CC Crown.

BALTIMORE, MD. - Gary Nagle added another signature moment to his remarkable senior season, capturing the 184-pound title at the Centennial Conference championships.

Nagle was one of five place-winners for the Bears, who finished in third place with 66.5 team points in a tight tournament. Washington and Lee captured the team crown with 97 points and Johns Hopkins finished just behind with 87 points.

Though Nagle was the Bears' lone champion, three others reached the finals of their respective weight classes: Terry Adams at 125, Romeo Rodriguez at 133, and Jason Carter as 197 pounds.

Nagle pinned McDaniel's Valentino Pryor in the first period and followed with a 6-0 decision over Johns Hopkins Grant Walnoha in the semifinals. Nagle received a medical forfeit in the finals.

Adams opened with a bye in the first round, before an 8-3 decision of Antonio Abate of Gettysburg to reach the championship match. In the finals, Adams fell by decision 6-5 to Riley Parker of W&L.

Rodriguez the #3 seed in the 133lb bracket started with a major decision over Ricky Caamano of Muhlenberg. Rodriguez then defeated the #2 seed, Cameron Pleninger of Merchant Marine by a score of 8-6 to reach the finals. Rodriguez was pinned by Johns Hopkins' Brent Lorin late in the first period.

Carter earned a major decision in the opening round, defeating Will Shiber of Johns Hopkins 11-0. In the semifinals, he defeated the #3 seed Max Sims of Merchant Marine by a score of 8-4. In a rematch of the 2019 finals, Carter dropped a 6-1 decision to top-seeded Luca Colestock of Muhlenberg.

Malcolm Hunt earned third place at 285lbs, after defeating Reid Garrison of Merchant Marine Academy with a 19-9 major decision.

Shawn Marchesano and Noah Supsic each reached the consolation finals and earned a fourth-place finish for the Bears.

"Overall we wrestled well this weekend," head coach Joe Jamison said. "There were some really good performances and we continue to make progress from where we were a few years ago. The team has high expectations for themselves and we will continue to build from here. Everyone is looking to use this as a launching pad heading into regionals in two weeks."

The Bears will return to action February 26 as they return to the mat for the Mideast Regionals.
