Washington pulls away from WLax, 18-13

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – After tying the game at 7-all, Ursinus saw Washington outscore the Bears 6-3 over the next 15 minutes as the Shorewomen (5-3, 1-1 Centennial) handed the Bears (5-4, 2-1 Centennial) an 18-13 loss on Wednesday afternoon in women's lacrosse play.

Ursinus had rallied from four down to tie the score before Washington went on the run.

The Bears were led by senior Alyssa Thren who scored a team-high five goals, with Kim Peifer accounting for three of her own. Kitty Dawson and Lauren Garganio each had two goals in the loss.

Dawson and Emily Diehl had two assists each for Ursinus.

Defensively, Thren had seven draw controls with Peifer picking up three. Thren had three ground balls for Ursinus.

In goal, Riley Pembroke had 13 saves in 50 minutes.

Ursinus will head to Bryn Mawr on Saturday.
