Balanced Men's XC Pack Shines at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Running in a tight pack, the Ursinus College men's cross country team used a balanced performance to script a stellar showing at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University on Saturday.

The top five runners were separated by just 75 seconds for the Bears, who placed 10th to register their highest finish at the annual event; Ursinus' previous best was 15th during the 2009 campaign.

All five of the Bears' top finishers either set or matched a personal record. Junior Joseph Iuliucci led the pack in 27:09, which was enough for a 29th-place individual finish. Freshman Craig Lauer posted a 27:33 to earn 45th place.

Fellow rookie Logan Mazullo crossed the line in 28:05, sophomore Andrew Voyack finished at 28:20, and freshman James McDaid equaled his collegiate best with a 28:24.

Freshman Andre Kelly turned in a clocking of 29:09 in his collegiate debut, and sophomore Jonny Cope rounded out the Bears' contingent in 29:22.

Ursinus travels to Rowan for the Inter-Regional Border Battle on Saturday, October 15.
