Myers, Battle Set Ursinus Indoor School Records at Bow Tie Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Track & Field team opened its 2021-22 Indoor season by hosting the Bow Tie Invitational at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center on Friday night.

 

A pair of school records were broken during the meet as freshman Brody Myers set a new pole vault record with a mark of 14-6.75 ft. that was previously held by Mike Malone in 2007 with a mark of 14-6. Junior Isaiah Battle outlasted teammate Nick Galbraith and beat his previous school record in the weight throw with a throw of 52-0.50 ft. Battle and Galbraith combined to reset the school record four times during the event as Galbraith came in second with a throw 51-8.50.

 

Sophomore Tim Holzapfel completed a 1-2-3 Ursinus finish in the weight throw with a mark of 47-6.50. Junior Ken Sprankle finished second to Myers in the pole vault with a mark of 12-5.50 while freshman Evan Mitchell placed fourth with a mark of 11-5.75 and sophomore Muheer Mardirosyan rounded out the top five with a mark of 10-11.75.

 

Battle and Galbraith both earned medalist finishes in the shot put with Battle earning second behind a throw of 43-10.75 and Galbraith placing third with a throw of 42-11.75. Senior Zach Crebbin recorded a second-place finish in the high jump after posting a jump of 6-2 and freshman Trey Rolle finished just behind in third behind a mark of 6-0. Rolle also earned a second place in the long jump with a mark of 19-5.25 in his first collegiate event. Senior Tyree Williams-Jackson recorded a third-place finish in the long jump behind Rolle with a mark of 19-3.25.

 

Junior Daniel Tabor led a 1-2 Ursinus finish in the triple jump with a mark of 42-1.25 and was followed by sophomore Michael Agbeye in second with a jump of 40.0.75.

 

The 4x400 relay team of Senior Tyler Reilly, sophomore Collin Ney, Tabor, and sophomore Devon Greaves tallied a first-place finish behind a time of 3:28.32.

 

Junior Daniel Maloney registered a second-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles after posting a time of 8.94. Junior Payton Stanziani led the Bears in the 800 meter run with a third-place finish behind a time of 1:59.74. Freshman Paul Faggioli led a pair of Bears runners in the mile by posting a mark of 4:34.17.

 

The Bears will return to action next month on Saturday, January 22nd as they will host the Collegeville Classic at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center.
