COLLEGEVILLE,
Pa. – The Ursinus College men’s tennis team opened up
its home schedule with a 9-0 blanking of Immaculata (0-1) Tuesday
afternoon.
In singles play, senior Bennett
MacLaughin (Gaithersburg, Md./Bullis School) defeated Nick
Tarlecki, 6-0, 6-0, at first flight. Junior Kevin Dean
(Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) then handed Dave Harlan a
loss at number two flight, 6-1, 6-0.
At number three flight, freshman Chris
Wyshock (Montoursville, PA./Loyalsock Township) defeated
Demetrios Vlahos, 6-1, 6-3, followed by a victory at number four
flight from freshman Sean Kelley (Hershey,
Pa./Hershey) over Eric Schmidt, 6-0, 6-0.
At number five flight, senior Jason Zerbe
(Berwick, Pa./Berwick) defeated Mike Pancoast, 6-1, 6-0,
followed by a 6-2, 6-1 win from senior Josh Hollaman
(Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) over Mike Hermansen.
In doubles play, Zerbe and Kelley defeated
Tarlecki and Harlan at first flight, 8-0. At number two flight,
junior Greg Lewis (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers
Academy) and Wyshock defeated Vlahos and Schmidt, 8-0.
Finally, at number three flight, sophomore
Kyle Davis (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East)
and freshman Matt Surman (Boyertown,
Pa./Boyertown) defeated Pancoast and Hermansen, 8-1.
Ursinus (1-4) goes to PSU-Abington on
Thursday.
