Plenty of PR's for Men's Swimming

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team took a contingent of six to Franklin & Marshall for the McGinness Invitational on Saturday and came back with a plethora of personal bests in the squad's final action before the Centennial Conference championship.

The highlight of the day for the Bears was freshman Cole Connelly's impressive 200 IM. His mark of 1:59.39 dropped his personal record by two full seconds and was the second-best time in program history.

Connelly also made a run at the school record in the 200 breast, finishing in 2:11.90 to land just 1.20 seconds off the benchmark established in 2013. He registered a 1:00.63 in the 100 breast, dropping about three seconds off his top time and moving into the all-time top 10.

Senior Brett Felgoise, junior Carl Christoph, and freshman Samuel Sjosten each accomplished multiple PRs. Felgoise did so in the 50 free (23.69) and 200 free (1:52.56), while Sjosten hit his best marks in the 100 back (57.45) and 200 back (2:02.27). Christoph notched personal bests in the 100 free (50.75) and 100 fly (56.36).

Freshman Thomas Rogers moved into fifth all-time with a 53.21 in the 100 fly.

The Bears closed the meet on a high note, with Bantley, Sjosten, Christoph, and Felgoise finishing the 200 medley relay in 1:46.59.

The men's swimming team returns to F&M for the Centennial Conference championship, which gets underway on Friday, February 17.
