COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus improved to 2-0 on the young
season, as the Bears swept a dual meet from Lycoming on Saturday
afternoon at Elliott Pool.
The women defeated the Warriors, 110-93, while the men defeated the
Warriors, 108-92.
The men won the opening 200-medley relay as freshman Scott
Paine (York, Pa./Dallastown Area), freshman Philip
Quick (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland Regional), sophomore
Christopher Smith (Wayne, Pa./St. Joseph’s
Prep) and freshman David Yazbeck (Dorchester
Center, Mass./Boston Latin School) finished first with a
time of 1:43.26.
Junior Lloyd Tannenbaum (Dresher, Pa./Upper
Dublin) won the 1000-free with a time of 10:37.35,
followed by freshman David Wagner (Whitehall,
Pa./Whitehall) in second place with a time of
11:04.26.
Paine took his first individual top finish of the day in the
200-free as he won with a time of 1:51.56, followed by Smith in
second place at 1:52.39.
Yazbeck won the 50-free at 22.97 for his first individual finish of
the day.
In the 200-IM, Quick picked up top honors at 2:06.24, while Smith
won the 100-fly at 56.03.
Yazbeck won his second event of the day, as he took the 100-free at
50.95.
Paine took home second in the 100-back at 56.85, followed by
another top finish from Tannenbaum, this time in the 500-free with
a time of 5:06.71.
Ursinus then swam exhibition in the final two events.
The Bears host Drew on Friday.
