Men's Lacrosse Moves up Rankings

USILA/Nike Division III Coaches Poll

PERRY, N.Y. – The Ursinus College men's lacrosse team moved up two spots to No. 16 in the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/Nike Division III top-20 poll on Monday.

The Bears improved to 2-0 with a 13-9 victory at Mary Washington in their lone game of the week Saturday, spotting the Eagles a 4-0 lead midway through the second quarter before running off a 10-1 run. Freshman attack Bobby McClure went for four goals and an assist en route to earning Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, junior Gerard Brown dished out three assists, and sophomore goalkeeper Nick Kirk made 14 saves in his first career start for Ursinus.

Defending champion Salisbury maintained the top spot in the rankings following a 10-9 overtime thriller over Gettysburg, which stayed at No. 6. RIT is No. 2, followed by Tufts at No. 3, Ithaca at No. 4, and York (Pa.) at No. 5. Gettysburg and Cabrini, both future Ursinus opponents, are the next two teams in the poll.

The Bears already own a victory over a program that is receiving votes in the rankings (Frostburg State) and have three more such squads on the schedule in Dickinson, Washington College, and Montclair State.
