Maurer Garners Centennial Conference Player of the Week Accolade

LANCASTER, Pa. – Ursinus men's basketball junior Kyle Maurer was named the Centennial Conference men's basketball player of the week, announced on Tuesday morning by the conference.

 

Maurer had a scorching hot week shooting from the field in a pair of wins for the Bears. He averaged 18.5 points per game, shooting a sizzling 60.9% from the field and 70% from three-point range. Maurer averaged 3.5 three-pointers per contest while also contributing 5.0 rebounds per game as well. He opened the week with 16 points behind going 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and grabbing a season-high seven rebounds in the Bears 74-71 win over Washington College. Maurer followed that with a career-high 21 points on going 8-of-11 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 shooting from three-point range in the Bears' 97-77 win over F&M on Thursday night.

 

The junior has made the most of his first full season of action by ranking third on the team with 12.4 points per game and is shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from three-point range. Maurer has made the second-most three-pointers on the team with 33 and is a solid 21-of-26 (80.8%) from the free throw line. This is the first time Maurer has earned a weekly accolade from the Centennial and he is the second Bear this season to earn men's basketball player of the week.

 

The Bears return to action tomorrow, February 2nd as they will host Haverford at 7:30 p.m.
