ASTON, Pa. – Ursinus College men's basketball senior forward Kevin Janowski (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) hit a three-pointer with just 41 seconds left as the Bears (2-2) defeated Neumann (1-3) 52-51 Saturday afternoon at the Coaches Vs. Cancer Classic hosted by Neumann.
The Bears got 11 points each from junior point guard Jesse Krasna (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) and freshman guard Malik Draper (Scranton, Pa./Scranton), while senior forward Jon Ward (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) had ten.
The Bears won despite shooting just 32 percent from the field (15-for-46) and converted on just three 3-point shots out of 17.
Ursinus opened up the game on a 9-0 run and went up by ten at 14-4 on a layup by junior guard Ryan Adams (White Plains, N.Y./The Hun School) with 13:31 left.
Neumann would rally and take a 19-18 lead on two foul shots by Tavaune Griffin with 5:23 left. The lead would be short, before Ursinus went up again by five at 27-22 on a pair of foul shots by Ward with seven seconds left.
Both teams would trade the lead in the second half, neither holding more than a two-point lead.
Ward finished with eight rebounds for Ursinus, while Draper and Krasna each had six.
