COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Washington College senior Kevin Breslin scored a game and career-high 36 points as the Shoremen (12-6, 8-3 Centennial) took sole possession of second place in the Centennial with a 73-66 win over Ursinus (7-11, 6-5 Centennial) Wednesday night.
Breslin made 14-of-22 shots in the win, while also grabbing six rebounds.
Ursinus was led by 19 points from junior forward Jon Ward (Allentown, Pa./Parkland), while freshman forward Jermaine Kamara (Cork, Ireland) had career-highs in points (14) and rebounds (17).
After Ursinus took the lead early in the game, Washington responded back with a 16-11 lead with 7:52 left. Ursinus was able to rally back, taking the lead for one last time with 2:27 left on a pair of foul shots by Ward.
Washington scored six straight points to end the half, taking a 32-28 lead.
In the second half, Ursinus was able to tie the score three times, but, Washington outscored the Bears 18-6 during a 6:45 span and took the lead for good.
Ursinus had one last gasp in the final two minutes as back-to-back three pointers put the Bears within three at 69-66.
Kamara's 17 rebounds was part of a 45-30 edge on the glass, but, Ursinus was hampered by 25 turnovers.
Ursinus heads to Dickinson Saturday.
