Gymnastics third at Pink Invite

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – In its final meet before hosting the NCGA East Regional Qualifier, the Ursinus College women's gymnastics team scored a 187.175 at the Pink Invitational hosted by West Chester University Friday night. West Chester was first with a 190.200, while Southern Connecticut State was second with a score of 189.850.

The Bears posted a 47.650 on the floor, a 47.300 on the vault, a 46.900 on the bars and a 45.325 on the beam.

Starting with the floor, freshman Monique Brooks (Beltsville, Md./High Point) was fifth overall with a score of 9.650, while freshman Kaelin Ruoss (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) seventh overall at 9.600. Sophomore Kelsey Jewell (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Schuylerville) was 11th overall at 9.500,  senior Riley Acton (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) was 12th with a score of 9.475 while junior Kristina Steffenhagen (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) was 17th overall at 9.025.

On the vault, Ruoss was fourth with a score of 9.650, followed by senior Kristin Aichele (Upper Black Eddy, Pa./Palisades) in ninth at 9.575. Brooks was 15th at 9.425, while freshman Heather Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) was 16th overall at 9.400. Freshman Kelsey Stewart (Westminster, Md./Westminster) was 18th at 9.250, while Steffenhagen was 19th at 9.000.

On the beam, freshman Amanda Palladino (Coatesville, Pa.) was sixth overall at 9.550, while freshman Katherine Norris (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) was eighth overall at 9.525. Ruoss was 14th at 8.950, while Steffenhagen was 15th at 8.800. Sophomore Jillian Casarella (Seekonk, Mass./Bishop Feehan) was 18th at 8.500.

Finally, on the bars, sophomore Vanessa Scalora (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett) was third overall at 9.550, with Ruoss eighth at 9.350 with Stewart ninth at 9.350. Palladino was tenth with a score of 9.325, with Lauren Chavis 12th at 9.325.

In the All-Around, Ruoss was second with a score of 37.550.
