Gymnastics fourth at Rutgers Quad

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The Ursinus College gymnastics team, in front of a sellout crowd at Rutgers, scored a 189.650 in a meet with three other Division I schools on Saturday. Maryland won the fourth team event with a score of 195.375, with Rutgers in second at 194.450 and Cornell third at 192.700.

The Bears scored a 47.850 on both the beam and the floor, and an identical 46.975 on the vault and bars on the afternoon.

On the beam, Kristina Steffenhagen had a team-jhigh 9.675, with Kristin Aichele scoring a 9.625. Amanda Palladino had a 9.600, with Kaelin Ruoss getting a 9.500 with Katherine Norris getting a 9.450.

On the floor, Steffenhagen again had a high mark with a 9.750, followed by Ruoss in second at 9.700. Kelsey Jewell had a 9.550, with Monique Brooks getting a 9.475 and Riley Acton scoring a 9.375.

On the vault, Aichele soared to a 9.625 followed by Ruoss with a 9.475. Heather Brubaker had a 9.400 with Kelsey Stewart scoring a 9.325. Brooks netted a 9.150.

Finally, on the bars, Vanessa Scalora had a 9.700, followed by Lauren Chavis with 9.600 and Palladino getting a 9.525. Acton got a 9.125 and Ruoss scored a 9.025.

In the All-Around, Ruoss had a 37.700.

Ursinus hosts Temple next Sunday.
