Gymnastics sets new school record in meet with Temple

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – In its first meet against Division I competition this season, the Ursinus College women's gymnastics team posted a score of 189.575, which set a new school record and was a season best. The host Owls slightly edged the Bears with a score of 189.900.

The Bears posted a 48.125 on the floor, a 47.775 on the vault, a 46.925 on the bars and a 46.750 on the beam. The vault score tied the school record.

Tina Steffenhagen won the vault with a score of 9.775, which tied the school record, with Kristin Aichele in second at 9.725. Steffenhagen's score set a school record, which was held by two people. Monique Brooks had a 9.475 and Alyssa Hershman scored a 9.425 for the Bears. Riley Acton was fifth on the team with a 9.375.

On the floor, Steffenhagen tied a school record with a score of 9.850, winning the event with Kelsey Jewell having a 9.775 and Brooks a 9.625. Acton posted a 9.500 with Katherine Norris scoring a 9.375.

On the bars, Lauren Chavis had a 9.650, with Amanda Palladino netting a 9.575. Kelsey Stewart scored a 9.500, with Acton and Jillian Casarella both getting a 9.100.

Finally on the beam, Aichele had a 9.675, with Steffenhagen getting a 9.525. Brooks had a 9.300 and Kelly McLaughlin getting a 9.250.
