Anderson, Ragland Claim CC Weekly Honors

LANCASTER, Pa. - A historic upset of No. 8 Muhlenberg was more than enough for the Ursinus College football team. A pair of awards is just icing on the cake.

Aaron Anderson (defensive) and Samuel Ragland (offensive) were named Centennial Conference players of the week for their monumental roles in the Bears' 42-35 victory over the Mules, the team's first ever over a team ranked inside the top-10 in the D3football.com poll. The win was Ursinus' first in Allentown since 1999 and gave head coach Pete Gallagher his 100th career victory.

Ragland enjoyed a record-setting afternoon, running for 104 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-tying and go-ahead scores in the fourth quarter. Ragland completed his hat trick with 6:03 to play, becoming the program's all-time leader in career rushing touchdowns with 35. The fifth-year senior also led the team with four receptions for 29 yards.

Anderson made arguably the game's two biggest players, putting Ursinus on top, 28-14, with a 42-yard interception return for a score in the third quarter and adding another pick at the goal line with an 87-yard return that set up Ragland's game-tying touchdown with 9:28 remaining. The Mules were poised to take a 42-28 lead before Anderson got his hands on another pass and flipped the field.

The Bears look to continue their momentum on Saturday, when they welcome Franklin & Marshall to Patterson Field for a Family Day affair.
