Griffith Garners PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Team Honors

PHILADELPHIA – Ursinus baseball junior Solomon Griffith was selected to the PhillySIDA Baseball Academic All-Area Team on Thursday afternoon.

 

 

The Academic All-Area Team, voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metro area, requires a student-athlete to be in their second year at the school and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or better.

 

 

 

The accolade comes off the heels after Griffith earned a pair of All-Region honors from D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). He also earned All-Centennial honors for the first time in his career after being named to the first team. Griffith's excellent work in the classroom as History and Double Education major by also earning placement on the Academic All-Centennial team and Centennial Conference Honor Roll.

 

 

 

Griffith had a career-best season for the Bears by leading the team with a .357 batting average, 51 total hits, 26 runs scored, and two triples. His consistent bat helped him pace the team with a .510 slugging percentage and stole a team-leading 15 bases after having just one in his first two seasons. Griffith belted home runs in 2022 and ranked second on the team with 20 RBI's. Griffith appeared in every game this season for the Bears and reached base with a hit in 14 of the last 15 contests.

 

 

Griffith is the first Bears baseball player since Austin Kurey in 2017 to be named to team.
