COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Junior Solomon Griffith extended his ascension into rarified air in Ursinus College baseball lore with a second team All-Mid-Atlantic Region V selection at second base by D3baseball.com.
Griffith becomes just the second player in program history to all All-Region honors from D3baseball.com after Alex Mumme earned a pair of All-Region honors in 2018 and 2019. The 2022 season marks the tenth year that D3baseball.com has named All-Region teams and had more than 1,000 players nominated for the 10 All-Region teams.
Griffith emerged as the Bears' most consistent hitter this spring by earning All-Centennial Conference First Team honors. He paced the team with a .357 batting average, 51 total hits, 26 runs scored, and two triples. The Ocean City, New Jersey native also powered the team with a .510 slugging percentage and stole a team-leading 15 bases after having just one in his first two seasons. He hit two home runs in 2022 and ranked second on the team with 20 RBI's. Griffith appeared in every game this season for the Bears and reached base with a hit in 14 of the last 15 contests. Overall, Griffith reached base safely in each of the last 18 games to close out the season.
In addition to his on-field performance, Griffith garnered Academic All-Centennial status with his GPA and All-Centennial selection. These postseason accolades are the first in Griffith's career and he has now batted over .300 in all three seasons on the team.
Griffith now awaits possible inclusion on the All-America team, which will be released tomorrow.
