Baseball wins slugfest with Haverford, 12-10

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Ursinus College baseball team scored an important Centennial Conference win on Tuesday, fending off Haverford in a 12-10 slugfest at Kannerstein Field. The Bears (15-9, 5-6 Centennial) scored eight times in the third inning and added two more runs in the fourth and seventh innings to take the win in the opener of the two-game series.

For The Bears, left fielder Timo Muro had two hits, as did right fielder Austin Kurey and shortstop Devyn Kerr. Muro finished with four RBI, including a three-run double to right center in the middle of the third inning. Designated hitter Austin Feuerman and first baseman Chris Jablonski also had RBI hits in the inning, while catcher Vincent Terry had a sacrifice fly.

In the fourth, third baseman Alex Campbell and Muro had RBI hits. In the seventh, Kerr and Terry had RBIs with Kerr hitting triple and Terry getting a sac fly.

Seth Regensburg got the win to improve to 2-2 in relief of Alex Manacher. Manacher started the game and went 3.1 innings, striking out one. Regensburg went 5.2 innings, striking out seven and walking four.

The two teams finish the series on Friday at Thomas Field.
