Baseball splits opener with Mount Union

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Ursinus College baseball team split a pair of games in its 2015 opener in Florida against Mount Union.

In game one, the Raiders scored three in the first and four in the third in a 10-2 win, while Ursinus (1-1) battled back in game two for a 3-1 win over the Mount (7-3).

In game one, sophomore left fielder Timo Muro (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) was 2-for-4 with a run scored, while sophomore second baseman CJ Diana (Chester, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) was 2-for-3 with a run scores.

Sophomore designated hitter Austin Feuerman (Columbia, Md./Atholton) was 1-for-3 with a  RBI, while sophomore pinch hitter Kieren Geyer (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) had a RBI hit.

On the mound, junior right hander Vince Piccioni took the loss, going 2.2 innings allowing five earned runs. He struck out one and walked four.

In game two, Ursinus got all three runs in the second inning as sophomore right fielder Austin Kurey (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown), junior first baseman Chris Jablonski (Galloway, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) and sophomore catcher Alex Campbell (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) each had RBI hits. Jablonski finished 2-for-2 with a run scored, a double and a RBI.

That was more than enough for sophomore left hander Seth Regensburg (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School), as he went five innings to get his first win of the year. He struck out five, walked one and allowed just three hits.

Senior right hander Alex Manacher (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) got the save as he pitched two innings of three hit ball.
