FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Ursinus College baseball team dropped its 2011 season opener on Saturday night 11-6 on Saturday night in a game that was called in the seventh due to rain.
For the Bears, Garrett Smith went 1-for-2 with a run and a walk as Ursinus had just four hits on the evening. Rich Guthridge went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
Steve Christakos had the loss, falling to 0-1. In six innings, he gave up seven runs (six earned) while walking six and striking out five.
