Ursinus Names Matt Hagy as Director of Athletic Communications

Ursinus College Director of Athletics Laura Moliken has announced the hiring of Matt Hagy as the new Director of Athletic Communications at Ursinus College, effective November 1st. 

Hagy comes to Ursinus after spending four and a half years at Albright College. He initially began as the Sports Information Assistant in August 2017 before being promoted to the Sports Information Director position in June 2018. 

"I'd like to thank the Director of Athletics, Laura Moliken, the Deputy Director of Athletics, Erin Stroble, the Assistant Director Athletics/Head Men's Basketball coach Kevin Small, and the search committee for trusting and believing in me as the next Director of Athletic Communications," Hagy said. "I'm very excited to be given the opportunity to work at Ursinus, and I can't wait to begin telling the stories of the outstanding student-athletes, teams, and coaches here in Collegeville."

During his time at Albright, he served as the official contact for 12 of the Lions intercollegiate athletic programs and ran the department's athletics website and social media accounts. He also oversaw the main streaming platform and created the Albright Sports Network that broadcasted numerous sports on campus. He also had the opportunity to work alongside the Lions in the NCAA Division III Tournament which included a pair of trips with the women's basketball team. 
He completed his undergraduate degree in Communication Studies with a dual concentration in Public Relations and Radio/TV in December 2015, before earning his Master of Science in Sports Management, from Cal in August 2017. 

Hagy spent a year as the Sports Information Graduate Assistant at his alma mater, California University of Pennsylvania. He was the secondary media contact for the Vulcans 16 teams on campus. In addition, he assisted in the production of the various broadcasts for the athletic department and ran the departments social media pages. Prior to his time as a graduate assistant, Hagy was a member of the campus TV station, California University Television (CUTV) that produces over 150 studio shoots a year. He was a primary broadcaster for the station's sports broadcasts in addition to being a host for the numerous studio shows. Matt also announced the 2015 Division II Women's Basketball National Championship for the campus radio station, WCAL, which featured Cal winning the title.

He served as the official scorer for the 2019 Division III Field Hockey Championships in Lancaster, Pennsylvania as well as the 2017 PIAA Football State Championship games.  Hagy also served as the official photographer for the 2018 NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Baseball Regional in York and worked as the timekeeper for the 2018 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship Weekend in Lancaster.
