Five New PR's for Women's XC at Rowan

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – The Ursinus College women's cross country team tuned up for the Centennial Conference championship with a fourth-place showing in the open race at the Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan.

Five of the seven entrants produced new personal bests for Ursinus in its final meet before the conference showcase in two weeks.

Senior Riley Engel was again the standard-bearer for the Bears, who were in the top third of a 15-team field. Engel finished in 18th place overall with a time of 24:27.3 on the 6-kilometer course.

Freshman Madison Tillman easily logged a new personal record with a mark of 25:05.6, more than 30 seconds faster than her time at the Paul Short Invitational. She placed 32nd overall in a field of almost 150. Fellow rookie Lauren Ferguson knocked nearly a minute off her 6k personal best, crossing the line in 67th with a time of 26:19.5.

Junior Ellie Stanley earned a new PR for the second straight meet, edging her Paul Short time by almost 15 seconds at 26:27.2. Sophomore Maddie McHugh's time of 26:34.6 was a PR by well over a minute, as was freshman Amanda Choi's 27:44.6.

Junior Alyson Manley finished the course in 28:21.1 to wrap up the Ursinus contingent.

The Bears take on a tough CC field at Haverford on Saturday, October 27.
