BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Brittany Gasser made her season debut count on Saturday, leading the Ursinus College women's cross country team to a 17th-place showing at the annual Paul Short Run.
Gasser's mark of 24:13 was good for 28th overall in a field of well over 300 runners in the White race, a sensational opening effort for the senior.
Senior Riley Engel was the second Bear across the line, crossing in 24:57 to place 59th. Senior Gabrielle Manto was 85th in 25:18.
First-year Madison Tillman secured a 6-kilometer PR by a wide margin with a time of 25:41, enough to place just outside the top 100 individuals.
Junior Ellie Stanley edged her previous personal best by five seconds with a 26:42, and freshman Lauren Ferguson beat her own by more than a minute at 27:15. Senior Audrey Simpson capped the Ursinus contingent with a 27:20.
The Bears head to Rowan for the Inter-Regional Border Battle on Saturday, October 13.
